Throughout my whole trip to Jordan and Israel I have been unbelievably lucky. Serendipity is the only word to describe this tour of the Middle East. Travelling to a county that is known for its political unrest is probably the bravest or stupidest move I have ever made.

My intention of wanting to experience these countries as a solo woman traveller was not meant to happen. Fate intervened and my trip turned into more of a ‘girls on tour’ holiday teaming up with two other independent women to become one of the best trips of my life.

Now safely home, I am shocked at what is unfolding in Israel.  It reminds me just how fragile this country really is, yet I have developed an attachment to this place and its people.

Israel is a beautiful place that I will always think of fondly but the situation in Gaza is now critical and all anyone can do now is pray for peace…
